Did you know that children living in a neighborhood near a park are 5 times more likely to be active during the week? With this consideration, it is no surprise that buyers often look for homes that are near recreational parks and spaces. Cary has over 30. To help you narrow down your search for a great place to enjoy a day out, we’ve put together a list of our top 5 parks in Cary.

1. Fred G. Bond Metro Park (Directions)

Located on 310 Acres and surrounding a lake, Fred G. Bond Metro is a popular walking spot for locals. With a seasonal boathouse, you can purchase fishing bait, snacks, ice cream, sno-cones, drinks, as well as rent a boat. They recently added an outdoors challenge course for thrill seekers. They have three pavilions available to rent for events as well as an amphitheater.

2. North Cary Park (Directions)
If you live a more active lifestyle, you should check out North Cary Park. With 4 sand volleyball courts and 2 basketball slabs, you’ll be able to play a game with your friends. You have to try the climbing boulder! North Cary Park also has trails, picnic spaces, and a playground.

3. Downtown Park (Directions)

The Town Square of Cary is a representation of the resurgence of the town. Located across the street from the Cary Arts Center, this urban park is an easy walk for locals. You’ll have to see it at night for the lighted fountain. The community often comes together for art festivals, outdoor movies, musical acts, and more.

4. R. S. Dunham Park (Directions)
Referred to by the locals as “Dad” Park, this park received its name from a former, Cary High teacher, R. S. Dunham.  This park has a little something for everyone--tennis courts, playground, basketball courts, and picnic spaces.

5. Urban Park (Directions)

Looking for a shaded space for younger kids? Look no further. Urban Park has a ton of space to let your little ones run about. The park features two large play-sets, swings, and a sandbox. We know they’ll have a great time.

As we said before, these aren’t the only parks in Cary. If you have a favorite park, we’d love to hear about it.
